Handmade Pressed-Flower Votive Craft for Mother’s Day

What you’ll need to make this craft for Mother’s Day:

• Fresh flowers
• Parchment paper
• Iron
• Glass jar (An empty pickle or mayonnaise jar works great!)
• Mod Podge
• Paintbrush
• Twine
• Small candle

How to make a homemade pressed flower votive craft for mother’s day:

Step One: Press the flowers

Place the flowers in a single layer on top of a piece of parchment paper. 

Place a second piece of parchment paper on top of the flowers. 

Lay a towel over the top of the parchment paper and press the flowers using a warm iron. To do this, lay the iron on top of each section of flowers and press for 10 seconds before moving the iron to a different section. Continue this process until all the flowers are flattened.

Step Two: Add the flowers to the jar

First, spread a layer of Mod Podge all over the jar. Then, place the pressed flowers on top of the layer of glue to secure them to the jar.

Next, paint a second layer of glue over the top of the flowers, carefully spreading the glue from the center of the flower outward to keep the petals in place.

Allow the glue to dry completely, then touch up with another layer of glue if any of the petals have begun to pull away from the jar.

Tie a piece of twine around the top of the jar and secure with a bow. Place a candle inside the jar, and your gift is all ready for Mom!
