What you’ll need:

  • Plaster of Paris
  • Spoon
  • Water
  • Mixing bowl
  • Yowie capsules
  • Yowie collectibles
  • Butter (or an oil-based lubricant)

Method:

  1. Lubricate the inside of the Yowie capsule to ensure the Plaster of Paris does not stick.
  2. Mix together your Plaster of Paris mixture with water until you have a toothpaste consistency. Keep in mind that the thicker the mixture is, the harder it will set – and the more watery the mixture is, the less strong it will be.
  3. Pop your mixture inside one half of the capsule using a spoon.
  4. Now place your Yowie collectible inside the capsule with the mixture.
  5. Fill up the other side of the capsule and put it on top to close.
  6. Wait 30 minutes or until your capsule is hard.
  7. Twist and open your capsule to reveal your new fossil egg inside.
  8. Now the fun part, use a hammer to try and find your surprise inside!
Crafts And Printables Plaster Ball01

Don’t have any Plaster of Paris at home? You can easily make your own!

What you’ll need:

  • White, all-purpose flour
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Food coloring
  • Pot & cooktop
  • Spoon

Method:

  1. Combine 2 cups of flour and ¾ cup of salt to your stew pot and mix thoroughly.
  2. Turn your cook top onto medium heat and begin adding ½ cup of water to the pot. Make sure the flour and salt are completely mixed in before adding another ½ cup of water.
  3. Continue adding water to the flour until the mix is the consistency of thick honey. Continue to stir, keeping the tip of the spoon on the bottom of the pot to prevent sticking and burning. The flour mix should become translucent.
  4. If you want your plaster to have a color, add about 10 drops of food coloring of your chosen color.
  5. Take the plaster off heat and let cool for about an hour before continuing to create your Yowie plaster ball!
